This post does stray away from our “Electric’ Tuesday” category, but with the opening of the movie, I thought it would be appropriate to bring this song back. Howard Marks is a cannabis activist from the UK, who famously spent seven years in a United States Federal Prison for drug trafficking. His autobiography is the subject of the new Move, “Mr. Nice” which opened in the UK this weekend, and should hit the US market before the end of the year.

Marks collaborated with the now defunct UK punk group P.A.I.N. (which stands for Propaganda and Information Network) The song was recorded in 2001 and Marks and PAIN member Jon Eris have made a wonderful cannabis anthem. Howard Marks is still a vocal cannabis activists, tours the world giving lectures, and even ran for UK Parliament on the single issue of cannabis law reform. ROctober rocks on with a tune that features Howard Marks, a cannabis advocate that has led such a colorful life his autobiography has been made into a major motion picture  staring Rhys Ifans as Marks, and Chloe Sevingny as his wife.  Look for it in Theaters in 2010. Cannabis activists are world wide, we are not alone in our march towards the end of  cannabis prohibition. March of 2008 was the last time we heard this great toker tune.

Mr. Marks famously spent seven years in an American prison for drug trafficking and later ran for election to UK Parliament on the single issue of the legalize cannabis campaign.
