Since it is Friday, dear stashers, we pull out all the stops with our ROctober look back at some of the songs that deserve to be played every day, but only get played once in a while. For today’s stash, we turn to a sure bet with Nice Peter who, as it turns out, is one nice guy. His entry in our latest search for the most creative and marketable ads won the first-runner-up spot. I can’t wait to hear more from this talented artist. We go back to July of 2008 for this gem.

Drummer Kristen Regester along with Pete make up this two piece band from Chicago. Shukoff was trained in Improv at the Improv Olympic in Chicago and his comedy collides with rock and roll like a quickie marriage in Vegas. Wow, we made it to 2009.  Seems like only yesterday I was a tie-wearing geek sitting in a seminar about the upcoming information technological dangers coming from the dreaded Y2K bug.  1999 was ten years ago, man!  Remember how we all used to listen to that Prince song over and over and how the UN was talking about eradicating all drugs by now?  Yeah, good times.

For today’s Stash we pick up with musician Nice Peter down in LA.  He’s donated some of his music to the Stash and now he’s looking to make it big in Southern California.  We’ll see if we can get Tere Joyce to catch up with him for a report sometime.

Also we’re reviewing the official Top Ten Events in Cannabis from NORML – our final Top Ten list of the year.

He’s currently leading the votes at the 2008 Stashie Awards for his tune “Smoke that Weed” (I also used it as a background loop for the 2008 NORML CON commercial), it’s midwestern rocker Nice Peter!

Pete has moved from the Chicago area to Los Angeles to seek fame and fortune.  He has a gig this Friday at the Pig’n'Whistle and is calling on all our SoCal Stashers to come on out.  He’s also making some tunes available for download over at www.nicepeter.com, so check him out.

Today’s jam is an acoustic number called “I Quit You Fat Motherfucker”, which is something I know I have wanted to yell at a boss or two in my life.  It also gives me a chance to use one of Carlin’s Seven Dirty Words on the microphone, since I usually work on FCC-controlled radio and words like that can get you a $375,000 fine.
