Public Property - Click to buy on CDBaby
When you think of Reggae, the last thing you think about are the cornfields of Iowa. Hailing from Iowa City, Iowa, comes Public Property, one of the country’s best Reggae bands around today. Having shared the stage and recording studio with Reggae legends such as Toots Hibbert of Toots and the Maytals on their latest CD, Public Property is currently barnstorming the U.S., sharing their unique brand of Midwest Reggae, Ska, and Hip-Hop, to the delight of music fans all over.
The Irie Wednesday Toker Tune of the Day is from their second CD “What’s Going Down”. A CD complete with rich harmonies, smooth rhymes and exceptionally dope beats. The tune entitled No Respect is all about rolling up a spliff and washing your troubles away.
So do like Public Property advises in this song, “Roll me up a spliff, I want to get lit” and enjoy the NORML Daily Audio Stash Toker Tune of the Day, No Respect!

Welcome to our new music lineup on the Daily Toker Tunes. Today and every Wednesday is now designated as “Irie Wednesday”. We’ll be bringing to you all the best reggae, ska, dancehall, and reggaeton music me and our volunteer music editors can find.
Coming up for the rest of your week you’ll hear “Groovin’ Thursday” and “Rockin’ Friday”. If you are a musician or band that would like your 420-friendly tune played on the Daily Toker Tunes, just send me an email at stash@norml.org
Prophet Benjamin is from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, where national elections were held on Monday and the United National Congress Party leader, Basedo Panday called for a new approach to dealing with marijuana in the island republic where selling stings have been set up recently to entrap tourists. “I think we ought to look at that to see whether prohibiting things really ends the problem,” Panday said during a pre-election radio forum. Panday recalled the “old days,” when there was a shop selling “ganja” in Princes Town and people would smoke it in chillums on Saturday nights after working in the fields all week. “It never was a problem.” Marijuana laws throughout the Caribbean remain strict due to the US putting pressure on local governments to crack down on all illegal drugs. Trinidad and Tobago is the birthplace of calypso music, and it is no stranger to reggae root music. Dancehalls are still popular where you can hear reggae beats spilling out into the streets. There also must be fields of weed somewhere on the island paradise to inspire Prophet Benjamin to write todays music stash.

We have a treat for you Stashers with the Toker Tune from MMA this Reggae Wednesday. We’re playing the fantastic and famous Collie Buddz, with his hit song “Come Around”.
Born in New Orleans, raised on the Isle of Bermuda, Collie Buddz is hard to identify geographically. His music however, has one of the most firmly grounded voices you may ever encounter. Incorporating influences from hip-hop to soca, Collie’s music has a rock-solid foundation in reggae, with the power to connect ghetto reality with the heights of human aspiration, that is a rarity even in Jamaica. As Collie says, “he loves the positive vibes of reggae music”.
Collie has been immersed in the music culture of Bermuda since he was 6 years old. Consistent encouragement led Collie to his own Bermudian studio and to being signed with major record label, Sony Music.
Collie Buddz had a huge hit with today’s song ‘Come Around’, which won 2007 Global Marijuana Music Awards Song of Year!
Collie Buddz success continues, he was recently nominated for an EME award. The Excellence in Music and Entertainment Awards has nominated Collie Buddz for Top International Artist of The Year, along with Stephen Marley and Sean Paul.Â
You can grab Collie Buddz debut album, self titled, on sale now at most music outlets including iTunes, Sony Music Store, Napster and Amazon.com
Here’s the hit song ‘Come Around’ by Collie Buddz!

Agua Trip began in the Autumn of 2000, when Bill and Lindsey met at a Party in Tennessee. A few months of jamming was the eye–opening experience that led to the formation of Agua Trip. Their music is an interplay of classical guitar, Latin and reggae rhythms with rock energy. Their varied influences range from The Beatles to Bob Marley.
The band are currently promoting their two albums, ‘Genetics’ and ‘Breakfast Translations’. Much of their strength of vision is the use of their music in conjunction with visual media such as film, dance, video, animation and whatever’s new.
Agua Trip is more than a band, it’s a creative project that invites collaboration. Bill and Lindsey invite other artists to inquire about the possibilities of working together. They’re currently shaping new ideas about the future direction of their work, wanting to expand the territory they’ve previously visited.
The song today is ‘In the Sand’ from Agua Trip’s latest CD, ‘Genetics’. ‘In the Sand’ is entered in 2009 American Marijuana Music Awards. You can vote for Agua Trip’s entries in 2009 American MMA at Marijuana Music Awards’ website marijuanamusicawards.com or in our Blog. Agua Trip have entered 2009 American MMA Song of Year, Album of Year and Best Reggae.
Agua Trip’s CD Genetics is available to buy through CD BABY and iTunes. Check out Agua Trip’s website aguatrip.com and their myspace page at myspace.com/aguatrip

Hey, Stashers, I’m proud to announce a new partnership between the NORML Daily Audio Stash and the Global Marijuana Music Awards. Â The GMMA is run by a Aussie named Tam, and he will be providing the newly-revamped “Daily Toker Tunes” section of the Stash. Â This week I’m going to post a few of the GMMA winners from 2008, and then next week Tam takes over posting new tunes about weed all genres. Â These tunes will also be a part of the Marijuana Music Awards competition and we’ll be getting your votes on your favorites as well. — “R”R
The Herb by Franziska from Italy won the 2008 Global Marijuana Music Awards. After becoming the best reggae band at the 2007 European Reggae Contest, Franziska won Song of Year in the 2008 Global Marijuana Music Awards with the new hit single “The Herb”. The song’s theme is legalise the weed!

You know what I haven’t featured yet, my fellow Stasherinians? Â Reggae. Â That’s right, one of the most ganja-influenced forms of music on the planet and I have yet to play a single song of it. Â I feel kind of ashamed, to be honest. Â So let me rectify that by playing “Herbsman Anthem” by Brooklyn reggae artist Mojo Morgan.
Morgan is originally from the band Morgan Heritage, which formed in the 80s and had many reggae hits in the 90s onward.  They toured all across the world, including sold-out stadiums in Senegal, Gambia, and Mauritius.  Their most recent reggae hit is “Nothing to Smile About.”
Mojo has decided to take a solo route and if “Herbsman Anthem” is any indication, he will continue to be successful in the reggae genre, as he splices together his personal influences, including rock’n'roll and hip hop. Â The track also features vocals by the uber-legendary, late, great Peter Tosh, and if you don’t know who Peter Tosh is, thenI seriously question your status as a marijuana activist.
You can listen to more of Mojo’s music on his myspace page.

Wow…..two songs for our musical break? Time to pull out some smokin’ Reggae! TOP CAT brings us this righteous reggae puff with the track, “Pass the Chalice for Me”. In Jamaica, any kind of pipe is called a chalice. Top Cat is one of the UK’s most accomplished MC’s. He recorded his first record in 1988 called “Love Mi Sess” (another great toker tune!) earning him a number one spot on the UK Reggae charts. He has held the number one position in dancehall, reggae and live performances over the years as both a performer and a producer. Coming full circle, Top Cat was again the em….”Top Cat” when a new version of the Love Mi Sess riddim made it to number one on the reggae charts in 2007. So groove on this reggae, Stashers, and please, pass the chalice for me!
