The Dirtball's 2006 release, "Raptillion"
Tam from Marijuana Music Awards is going to be off the site for this month as she prepares for the 2010 Marijuana Music Awards. During this time, Cannabis Karri and I are going to scour our vaults for great Toker Tunes for the next few weeks.
I finally got a chance to rip the CDs that The Dirtball had given me. He’s my Oregon homie from the central part of the state near Bend. I loved his tunes “Mushroom Cloud” and “Moonshine Rhyme”, which I’ve played on previous Stashes.
Today’s tune comes from his 2006 release, “Raptillion”, and the song I’m playing for you is “Hate Bait”. Considering some of the hate I’ve been getting of late (not from you, dear Stashers, but from the hard world out there), it feels a bit cathartic.

Three more fun interviews on tap to make the weekend podcast an extra special bit of Stashy goodness -
- Our Celebrity Stoner Entertainment News with Steve Bloom. We cover the pot busts of Ron “Tater Salad” White, Colts DT Ed Johnson, and the alleged drug lifestyles of Sarah Palin’s teenagers.
- We catch up with Suburban Noize Records artist The Dirtball as he flies out of the Portland airport on his way to Phoenix and San Diego for shows this weekend. This Oregon rapper has done more than 100 shows in 100 days with some of the biggest bonghitters on the planet and lived to tell the tale, right here on the Stash!
- Westwood One freelance reporter Eric Brenner checks in with his report on a press conference attended by former Drug Czar Gen. Barry McCaffrey to celebrate “National Recovery Month”. McCaffrey couldn’t take the heat from someone asking him tough questions about his role in locking up thousands who never got a chance at “recovery”, and Eric joins us to talk about it.

The Dirtball is back! This Bend, Oregon-based rapper has been on a whirlwind summer, appearing on four overlapping tours with such heavyweights as Tec-9, Kottonmouth Kings, Big-B, hed-pe, and many more great musicians.
Today Dirtball calls in while hanging out in the Portland airport, awaiting a connecting flight to Phoenix where he has another set of shows to perform. This guy is the real deal, putting out his rhymes and rhythms for the people. Check out a Dirtball show if you get the chance, you won’t be disappointed.
The Dirtball is touring to support his new album, “Crook County”, which is the actual name of the county in Oregon where Bend is located. You’ve heard The Dirtball back in June, when we played “Moonshine Rhyme” and “Just a Friend”, and back in May when “Crook County” dropped we played “Mushroom Cloud”.
I was originally going to interview The Dirtball yesterday as he was out in the Oregon wilderness picking mushrooms (not those kind, but a rare Asian delicacy kind that I can neither pronounce nor spell), but he got too far out of cell range for a good recording. So in the spirit of the fungus among us, I’m replaying “Mushroom Cloud” (those kind) for today’s Stash. Enjoy!

Today’s Audio Stash features an interview with Tom Daubert, Founder and Director of Montana Patients and Families United. Tom tells us about the interesting wording of Montana’s medical marijuana law and how it protects the rights of patients on probation or parole.
For our Cannabis Science we speak with Dr. Mitch Earleywine from SUNY Albany. The good doctor exposes the frauds behind the latest report from the Centers on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) that claim the “Not Your Father’s Woodstock Weed!” is driving the teenagers insane!!!
And me, I’m heading to the Central Oregon Coast! I love living close to the ocean. I’m visiting with all my extended relatives at our biennial family reunion. I just can’t wait to answer the question, “So what do you do?”
“Well, Great Aunt Millie, I read, write, and talk about marijuana…”

My homie The Dirtball is back with another slammin’ track from his CD “Crook County”, because my other homie, Cannabis Karri, is up to her elbows in making tie-dyes for the upcoming summer festival season (you can check out her work at Planet Fantastic).
The Dirtball raps on Suburban Noize Records and I love how he incorporates fresh new sounds into his beats. You’ll hear instruments and genres in his music that reflect the wide open spaces of central Oregon along with his lyrical flow that fits perfectly into any urban setting.

Good day, Stashers! Cannabis Karri has the day off today, so I’m digging into the musical vault to bring you another slammin’ track from my Oregon homie, The Dirtball, representing Bend and all of Central Oregon… you betta recognize!
The Dirtball’s new album is out from our boys at Suburban Noize Records, and it’s called “Crook County”, which is the actual name of the county where Bend, Oregon is located. The Dirtball mixes into his beats all kinds of interesting sounds. Check out the country-style in this track, which is called “Just a Friend”. It’s about that standard line you hear from the girl you really want to be with, but she just likes you as a friend.

It’s Friday, May 16th and it’s 4:20 somewhere in the world! I’m your host, “Radical” Russ Belville and this is your NORML Daily Audio Stash.
We have another extra-special Stash for you to take into the weekend. First, CelebStoner.com’s Steve Bloom checks in with a report from the MPP Fundraiser in New York City.
Then for our musical break we have a special interview with Suburban Noize Records artist The Dirtball. His new CD, “Crook County”, has dropped this week and we’re going to bring you the new single, “Mushroom Cloud”. Even though The Dirtball’s hometown, Bend, Oregon, out there in Crook County (seriously), is a three-hour drive from NORML West Coast Media HQ, I’m still going to call him my homeboy.
To conclude the podcast we’ve got a special interview with Kevin Booth, the writer/director of the phenomenal drug war documentary, “American Drug War: The Last White Hope”. If you haven’t seen the movie, you need to. It may still be running on Showtime or you can get your copy online, or in your local video store on Tuesday, May 27th.
Finally, don’t forget that every Saturday we’re now posting the NORML Weekend Music Stash, where you can get all of the last ten songs from our daily musical breaks in one podcast, suitable for your weekend party pleasure. If you have a band that would like to be featured on our podcast, please send us an email at stash ‘at’ norml.org.
So sit back and relax with some OG Kush and enjoy your NORML Daily Audio Stash…
