This week sees a change to our Daily Toker Tunes, instead of the usual Message Monday, Variety Tuesday format, we have a week of Urban Music to enjoy.
We begin the urban music special with ‘Welcome to Holland’ by Lionart, nominated in 2007 Marijuana Music Awards.
Lionart are from Birmingham in the UK and are avid marijuana legalization supporters.
Lionart say, “Marijuana is the healing of the nations. Hemp is the world’s premier renewable resource with over 25,000 potential uses including clothing, paper, plastics, food, fuel and much more”.

Having walked away with 3 Global Marijuana Music Awards in 2009, including Song of Year, we end the bonus 2009 GMMA winners week with Rich Hardesty’s music and his 2009 Global MMA Best Pop song ‘Steady High’.
The song has history with the MMA. Its first production won 2005 Marijuana Music Awards Best Pop song. Having been totally remade, the song has come back to win Best Pop song again in 2009!
Rich Hardesty’s music fuses Folk, Rock, Reggae and Soul. Rich has been entertaining fans of all ages with his unique style for over a decade.

Continuing our bonus 2009 Global Marijuana Music Awards winners week, today we hear 2009 Global MMA Best Blues Song, ‘Toke of Rhythm’ by Walter Herleman and Howlin Dogma.
The band came together in 2001 mixing Blues, Rock and Roots music from around the US.
Howlin Dogma remain with the original Blues sound, blended with their own unique style.
The band say their music is the kind “you find in the roadhouses, and neighborhood bars. The kind you ride your Harley out to see.”
They make, as they say, “music of the people, by the people, and for the people, American Music!”

For Variety Tuesday we hear 2009 Global Marijuana Music Awards Winner and good friend of NORML, Paul Bullock, with his award winning pot poem, ‘Dark Parking Lot’.
Paul Bullock is the undefeated winner of Marijuana Music Awards Best Poetry since the introduction of the category in 2005.
Paul has been the Marijuana Music Awards presenter at the 2006, 2007 and the 2008 Marijuana Music Awards.
He will be the presenter at 2009 American Marijuana Music Awards at the Chicago Peace Fest from 5pm this Saturday 20 June!

Double 2009 Global Marijuana Music Awards winner Blaxicans, provide today’s Toker Tune with ‘Medical Patient’, winner of 2009 GMMA Best Medical category. Blaxicans also won Best Spiritual category with their song ‘Book of Joel’.
DJ Ignite of Blaxicans is a veteran Hip Hop artist, being an Original B-boy Break dancer, it has been his way of life. DJ Ignite is featured on over 30 compilations CDs, and featured on projects with Hip Hop greats such as 2 Pac, Baby Bash and too many more to name.
Most recently Ignite is working on a Spanglish album (meaning ‘Spittin Spanglish Slang’) targeted to the barrios and hoods who he touched while growing up.

After winning Best Male Artist and Best Acoustic in 2008 Global Marijuana Music Awards, Chief Greenbud has retained his title in Best Acoustic category in 2009 Global MMA, winning the category with today’s song ‘It’s Only a Weed’.
Chief Greenbud gets his name from “chiefing” or smoking marijuana. He plays music to get you high.
A veteran performer, Chief Greenbud has played at numerous festivals, concerts, and rallies including many NORML events. He is currently working with another well known artist to the Stash and MMA winner, Muck Sticky.
