For Variety Tuesday we hear a classic stoner blues tune ‘Getting Hold of That Weed’ by JBB, nominated in Best Blues of 2009 American Marijuana Music Awards.
JBB are 5 brothers who wrote today’s song back in 1974. The song was inspired by the brothers running out of weed when their dealer was busted, but managed to score a few ounces of the finest Maryjane within a few days.
The song was the brother’s first success and they continued as a band, producing 13 albums during their career.
‘Getting Hold of That Weed’ was their only song directly about marijuana, but every recording session was inspired through the creativity of Grade A Cannabis.
JBB say they are “very happy to have a debut appearance on the Daily Audio Stash with the inspirational Russ Belville” [And I'm very happy to see I'm not the only one who rocked a skinny keyboard tie in the Eighties! Thanks, guys. -- "R"R]
