Happy 4/20!  I’m throwing all the rules out the window for this one – it’s a holiday, after all.  I’ve chosen my favorite songs from Cannabis Karri’s music vault plus a few extras from my own and given you a CD-length special Music Stash.  Enjoy!

  1. “Time 2 Get High” by Los Marijuanos
  2. “Like Smoke” by Aaron English
  3. “Gone Git High” by Kottonmouth Kings
  4. “The Ballad of Devil Weed” by The Sneakers
  5. “Let’s Get High” by Disciples of Panic Earth
  6. “Gimme da Weed” by Chronic Clan
  7. “I’m Kinda High” by The Tallbrothers
  8. “Grandma’s Gettin’ High” by Jon Nicholson
  9. “Get Stoned Together” by Josh Belville*
  10. “Political Activist” by Elemental Foundation
  11. “Get High” by Potluck
  12. “Winning the War on Drugs” by Asylum Street Spankers
  13. “Jack Herer”** by The Dixon Chicks
  14. “Light Dat Ting” by Highah Seekah
  15. “Let Me Grow More Weed” by P.A.I.N.
  16. “Ganja Computer” by The Tentacles
  17. “Let it Burn” by Ivy league
  18. “Amsterdam Blues” by Boo Boo Davis

*Yes, he’s my brother.  He’s 25 and an aspiring singer/songwriter/actor/director/writer/producer.  So I said, “Hey, write me a song about getting stoned” and he sent me this demo.

**This song, “Jack Herer”, has absolutely nothing to do with Jack Herer.  I asked the songwriter why he called it that, and he said it was because he was inspired by meeting Jack Herer that day for the first time.  I said, “Wow, a title that has nothing to do with the song.  That’s so Led Zeppelin of you.”  And he replied, “I was thinking more like The Who and ‘Baba O’Reilly’ for a song about a teenage wasteland.”

I know the feeling.  I’ll never forget my first National NORML Conference.  It was in San Francisco, and we’d just finished the all-day road trip from Portland to the bay area and I get into the hotel, bags in hand, looking like hell and probably smelling worse, exhausted, and when the elevator door opens, standing there are Allen St. Pierre, Keith Stroup, Tommy Chong, and Eddy Lepp.

And that happened through a fortuitous series of events that started when I joined my local chapter of NORML.  There is a whole family of cannabis community that is eager for you to join us in ending adult marijuana prohibition – we are closer now than ever before.  Be sure to give of your time, talent, money, and/or voice and we will see the day of legal marijuana.

I guarantee that marijuana will be legal in my lifetime.  If I die and it is not legal, then I promise to come back and haunt the drug czar’s office.

Happy 4/20!
