I am the host of the NORML SHOW LIVE and The NORML Stash Blog. I'm married, live in Portland, Oregon, and I am a registered medical marijuana caregiver in this state. I've worked days as an IT geek and nights as a professional musician. Previously, I have been the host of my own political talk radio show on satellite radio. I've been the High Times "Freedom Fighter of the Month" for my work producing Oregon NORML's TV show, "A Cannabis Community Forum", and for helping to institute Portland's wildly successful medical marijuana cardholders meetings, where we help sick and disabled Oregonians acquire cannabis plant starts, learn gardening, and understand the medical marijuana law. I've dedicated my life to bringing an end to adult marijuana prohibition and re-legalizing cannabis hemp, and I'm honored to be chosen by NORML to be our daily voice.

The Obama DEA budget, at over NINE-BILLION DOLLARS only goes to prove my point that the “legal” drugs lobby is much larger than the pro-cannabis lobby.
To me, this is NINE BILLION DOLLARS WASTED, instead of adopting an approach of tolerance-as some other countries have adopted, leads to LESS crime and MORE responsible use.
Mr Obama, you and your “team” are WRONG!~
HAVEN’T CLUE 1 ABOUT WHAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ACTUALLY WANT, NOT TO MENTION THE MEDICAL AND THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS OF CANNABIS.

RESEARCH SOME MORE GUYS-YOU’VE GOT IT ALL WRONG.
THAT MONEY CAN BE BETTER SPENT IN NUMEROUS OTHER AREAS, SOCIAL PROGRAMS THAT ARE DYING ON THE VINE…(ie) MEDICARE, MEDICAID, ETC…………

YOU WANTED CHANGE AND THAT’S WHY YOU WERE ELECTED-AMERICANS ALSO WANT CHANGE, BUT NOT TO MOVE BACKWARD-BUT RATHER TO MOVE OUR COUNTRY INTO THE 21ST CENTURY.
WAKE UP, YOU BEAURACRATS, YOU “EVIL DO’ERS THAT SERVE ONLY YOURSELF.
    DECRIMINALIZE, AND FINALLY LEGALIZE MARIJUANA.
THIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF THE LAST 3,000 YEARS OF CANNABIS USE……..WHY?
    BECAUSE IT WORKS!~-THAT’S WHY.

YOU ARE ALL POINTED IN THE WRONG DIRECTION AND USING THE CONSTITUTION AND BILL OF RIGHTS TO SERVE YOUR OWN PURPOSES, NOT THOSE OF YOUR CONSTITUENCIES……..

[...] The DEA talking heads have been parading the same tired ideas around for years. If people on the street parrot the DEA’s talking points, perhaps one could gently remind them of the facts surrounding the lies they’ve heard for years. Let them down gently. Years of propaganda and government crafted ignorance can be hard on a person, when they finally come to the truth. Use your ideas well. Legalization, regulation, taxation, and control of marijuana and all substances is the goal. What we have now is a system that puts all control into the hands of the criminals. Let’s take back control. Regulate, control and tax cannabis in California and Colorado in 2010. var addthis_language = 'en'; [...]

I love to read things like this… intelligent, informed proponents of marijuana law reform completely demolishing the fragile platforms of prohibitionists. It is truely an inspiring thing to see. This is the information age; that’s why the tide is turning faster and faster every day in favor of COMMON SENSE. It is the definition of insanity to continue a system which does more damage than the “crime” it’s supposed to be punishing. I lost over 3 years to it myself. Those “drug courts”, the alternative they present to prison, are not a place the average cannabis smoker belongs. Rehabilitation is built around resocialization- in simpler terms, brainwashing. What they do is, force you to go to therapy, and if you disagree with any assumption they put forth based on your “addiction”, you end up being “sanctioned”… things like: exhorbitant fines, weekends in jail, being under “house arrest” where you have to call someone and ask permission to leave your home, and that person must know where you are at all times. They expect to be the #1 priority at all times, over your family, your job… ironically, just like they like to accuse you of being a slave to marijuana. If you refuse to agree that your life was utterly out of control and you were a terrible person to everyone around you because of your drug use, you’re accused of being in denial, not “in compliance” with the program, and can be subject to delays in progress and the aforementioned sanctions. Anything you say that doesn’t line up with their junkie profile is considered lying… and the sad thing is, some of these drug “counselors” doing this terrible thing are what they themselves call “addicts”… so we KNOW that they know better! Nothing is more nauseating to me than the hypocrisy of people who’ve smoked pot, KNOW that it’s not really dangerous, and ended up down a bad road because they moved on to other things; in my area, usually pills, meth, or excessive alcohol use- and then when they get clean, they lump our non-toxic little happy plant in with their poisons and present them as equals and all us people who use them the same, even though they know from experience we’re not. But peole are starting to realize it- anyone can get online and with one simple search have the truth laid out before them… every myth debunked… every bit of propoganda dissected… and the true history of the laws we suffer under now revealed. Education is the key. So good job, NORML people, for helping spread the truth. :-D

I agree, information is the key. Until the US starts censoring the Internet, the truth about cannabis will continue to spread. Maybe prop 19 won’t end up passing (though I REALLY hope it does), but the end of prohibition is inevitable given enough time, access to information, and open minds.

Like the prohibishtionist are a bunch of bullies! Taking away our liberties and lying through their teeth back in the 70′s to disillusion future generations. They need to hear our outcrys, not ignore us. More and more people are listening though…
