That’s Toby “Tigerheart” Grear, 155 lb. mixed martial arts champion and me backstage on the Boston Common at the Freedom Rally September 19. I wrote in my previous post that I was back from the NORML CON, but really, I’m back from Boston Freedom Rally, two days of working in DC and crashing at Keith Stroup’s guest bedroom, and five days of San Francisco NORML Conference.
Plenty of photos are now uploaded and face-tagged at http://picasaweb.google.com/radicalruss. It’s been good not to talk for a day. Heading over to Urb’s place to watch the DVR of my #5
Boise State Broncos (Go Big Blue!)… Holy shit, did I read that right? #5!?! What a mensch to record my college’s game while I’m on the road?
Tomorrow, Fresh Stash with highlights from Boston and San Francisco. Plenty of budly nugs of audio for your listening pleasure over the next two days. Then Thursday I’m back in the air (ugh) to Madison for the Harvest Fest, so no Stash, and off to Lambeau Field
on Friday, so no Stash then, either. But on Saturday you get live audio from Madison at a time to be announced with the benefit of me figuring out some of the audio difficulties.

No offense taken. It takes some special kind of typing to get under my skin. After 13 years in online dialogues, I’ve learned to not take text too personally.
Thanks for the compliments and yes, I think I am an everyday cool guy. No college degree, had every job from burger flipper to Wall Street database consultant, Army sergeant to rock and roll bassist, and now, the voice of everyday pot smokers. We will share a 4:20 somewhere someday. I’ll be back for the next Freedom Rally, maybe then?
Russ i really never did mean to offend you,i was born in 1959,did my first 4:20 in 1973 and i really do like you and love how you host the stash, maybe it is because you do such a great job with it that i really miss it when it is absent for days in a row.If i were closer to where you are(I’m in Mass) i would volunteer to help with you,i am,always entertained as well as informed, perhaps we were both having a bad day and i do apologize for my portion in it.I didn’t make it to the hemp rally but i almost did this year for the sole reason of wanting to meet YOU! You seem like an everyday kind of cool guy i would love to meet and share a 4:20 or two with. Russ,i didnt start out smoking it for medicinal purposes but now about to turn 50 i had a whipple operation 2 years ago,had half my stomach as well as half my pancreas removed so i defenitely know a thing or two about how 4:20 is able to combat major nausea, next stop here in Mass hopefully is making it legal medicinally. If my brothers and sisters can drink alcohol,a very destructive in all ways substance, surely we can find a peaceful solution in marijuana legalization.Take care Russ, keep up the good work and peace my friend…:-) keep on smilin
P.S. I’m older than you think. Were you doing 4:20 in 1973? I was born on the day of the Tet Offensive of the Vietnam War in 1968.
I never intended to offend you as I’m sure you never meant to offend me. As for the money, no, it is most certainly not my motivation, or I would’ve stayed in suit’n'tie cubicle farms and made triple what I make now.
The only thing about the money is that it makes possible what I am motivated to do. For example, right now I am ready to leave my home and wife and dogs for six months to tour the United States to deliver a 90-minute presentation with Q&A, a la Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth”, dedicated to informing people about marijuana prohibition, in cities and towns everywhere. All I need is gas & food money, a travel camper to sleep in, and a nice hi-def digital projector, as well as the local support of NORML chapters all across America.
Sorry my sarcasm stung you a bit, and you’re right, I was a bit stressed out. When I do five Stashes a week, that’s about four hours of content. Last week I produced about nine hours of live content plus a 50-minute Stash on Monday, so I did feel a bit like “you got ten free hours and now you’re complaining you didn’t get the other three?”
Russ i am probably one of the very few people you will meet who is completely unmoved about money or the mention of refunds for purchase price snipes,i will take that comment from you as some kind of new millenium swipe and i forgive you,WAY too many folks nowadays, you included here seem to think money is some kind of God to motivation. Not so with yours truly, since i was probably doing 4:20 before you ever left preschool i will take your age into account in that forgiveness, obviously your being overworked has finally gotten you steamed enough to respond to me negatively so i am truly sorry if i caused you any pain or anguish which obviously i did according to your reaction.I will not write you anymore. You can save your snips for others…Peace n OUT!
Well, you didn’t quite read it correctly. You get Stash today and tomorrow. You’ll get new news stories today and tomorrow, PLUS audio from the conference that you didn’t hear on the live shows.
Now, if I can generate enough ad revenue through the live show and web advertising to justify NORML hiring on another full-time staffer (or if people just donate more money to NORML) AND if we can find someone with a great voice, recording experience, computer talent, writing ability, and dedication to the herbal cause who’s willing to work for one third the salary those kind of skills can garner on the open market, then we’re in business!
But if my intermittent production of the Daily Audio Stash really has you perturbed, you are welcome to a full refund of the purchase price.
Damn dude,so if i read your words correctly we only get ONE day of actual new stash this week which will be little more than a rehash of the rally which we already know about? Time for you to turn over the reigns of the stash to someone who can actually produce it more than once a week,i am sure you are doing a great job besides the stash for NORML,you should devote your full time to that and let someone else do the daily stash duties.just saying,Don’t hate me Russ, you do a GREAT stash when you actually do!…Peace
