I have chronic insomnia and marijuana is the best way for me to get to sleep. Iv taken 3 different sleep medications and they all have bad side effects. The biggest problem with the sleep medications is after taking it, the next day I’m worthless cause I’m so out of it the next day. So I chose marijuana. All I have to do is smoke a joint before its time for me to go to sleep and I fall right to sleep. The next day I have no side effects and feel refreshed ready to start the day. So please don’t say insomnia is not a problem because it is. Don’t pick and choose who gets to suffer. People do abuse marijuana but don’t punish those who don’t. The pills people put in there bodies are far worse than marijuana will ever be. The nation must get over this false stigma that medical marijuana is bad. It’s a lie. And please don’t knock insomnia, because it is real and I do suffer from it.

I too am Eva and i could not have said it better myself. More Tennesseans need to read this and join together to let our officials know how we feel and what we want. Thank you EVA!!!

Further, I would like to add that the VA has accepted the efficacy of marijuana in the treatment of PTSD, bi-polar disorder, anxiety, anger management, pain, HIV/AIDS, you-name-its…and allows it’s use by veterans in states where it is legal … for me, that’s as good as a big green rubber stamp directly from our government. The excuses they’re punting around today are old, tired and out-dated. Did you know that cannabinoids (the active compounds in THC) occur naturally in the human body and even if you have never smoked it, traces can be found within your system? Now…riddle me this…how in the world do you deny facts of that magnitude Mr. Fincher.

Unfortunately, being a politician is no longer about the needs of the people. Every time I hear one of them say “the American people want…”, I nearly choke on my own tongue trying to get across that they have no idea what we want nor do they really care. It’s about capital gains. Share with your politicians information on not only the efficacy of Medical Marijuana but also the financial gains for the state and local governments and municipalities, jobs creation and budget balancing revenue.

I have questions for you, Rep. Fincher: have you ever sat and held the hand of someone you love more than the world whom is suffering and dying slowly, agonizingly? Do you have the courage to tell that someone (your wife, your child, your father or mother) that while you have the power to ease their suffering, you will not because you are stubbornly holding onto your moral high-horse? I will say that I think you are a coward, that you WOULD probably leave the room, leaving them to die alone, suffering. I don’t know who keeps electing you out-dated thinkers, but it isn’t what the people want.

I am so disappointed in TN legislature. I am disgusted that a bill can get to the Senate and then die because you stubborn, ill-informed bastards refuse to even look at it. Let me let you in on a secret: I moved here in July. I am a 100% disabled veteran. Everyone I have spoke to since arriving has been pro-MMJ. Do you even go out and speak to these “people” that you claim to care so much about; the people for whom you will claim to have made “immense sacrifices” for as a public representative? You represent us. We can turn our backs on you as you have done to us. Don’t forget that. Get out there and stop being such a chickenshit.

Perhaps Rep. Henry Fincher just doesn’t believe that insomnia and anxiety are legitimate ailments and is comfortable with discounting and dismissing millions of Americans suffering from these “quotes needed obviously” debilitating disorders. I can’t believe that these “politicians” still get on national TV and blame the consumption of marijuana for schizophrenia. It’s pure idiocy.

What I want to say to Rep. Fincher is that with a little bit more education, he would find out that Marijuana IS very very helpful for people with insomnia, sleep disorders and anxiety. Hence, the large number of people in CA using it for those purposes.

The point is Mr. Fincher is that we have a right to choose our own harmless medicine if we choose. It’s not about whether too many people will use this herb for anxiety and sleep disorders; that you would rather see given Dr. prescribed and regulated ambien or zanax, It’s about CIVIL RIGHTS!!

Scientific studies PROVE marijuana helps with these conditions and millions of americans smoke secretly for these purposes. A little education for our Tennessee Reps could go a long way!

Can we please take the medical marijuana discussion back to a Civil Rights Issue!

I have MS and LIVE in Tennessee. I can have all of the “medication” that I need but let me grow one plant or buy a small amount and I could be spending time in prison!

Fight for my right to choose and stop worrying about the potential for “abuse” because “Marijuana is NOT physically addictive” and has been misclassified as a drug.

Wake up America, Wake up Tennessee!

    Civil Rights!

    Kim

I think the best option is to email your state representatives and other political leaders. I emailed both Henry Fincher and Charlotte Burks. Charlotte Burks emailed me back. I am planning on emailing some political figure weekly to show my support. I have also included research data and personal stories tagged onto standardized messages provided by mmp.org, the ACLU and other links. We certainly are up for a battle including the powerful pharmaceutical companies who will not approve of medical cannabis. I also think legalization would be great for Tennessee farmers. Email your state representatives often!! Thanks.

this dude is a fuckin idiot dont they get that eather way we will get our weed wether its medical or on the street so you stupid ass morons need to legalize it in tennessee im tierd of hearin this dude run his cock holster about his oppinion who gives a shit what he has to say we all just want you to legalize it dont we guys and girls

  10. Colleen Davis

They won’t legalize it because to many people would have there income cut. Don’t they realize they could put taxes on it like everything else to help with this plumpet in the stock market. Oh wait that would make to much cents. No one goes out & commits murder to get there next joint, nor overdose. So what is the real reason they won’t legalize it, come on really why, give us something besides a personal opinion. We all have opinions & we know where that goes.

I support changing the laws for the right for medical marijuana laws.I’ve been on the pain medacation of oxycotin for 10 yrs.now.I have stomach trouble that sends me to the hospital at least twice a year.I quit useing marijuana cause of the trouble it brings with it.I would rather use it than the pain meds cause there is less damage to my liver and other organs. And everyone is robbing stores for the meds I get anyways.I beleive with the right laws put in place the state would benifit from the state taxes that it would bring in.But it would also put to many baqck door deals in trouble.I wish one day the people we put in office would see the money it would help in revanue for the state and have experts reveiw this so it would help the people of Tennessee and cut out on meds that are overpriced.I’m just for them to oversee it and help with the money troubles it could help the state.

There have never been any reports of someone overdosing on marijuana. The only incidents of people dying with marijuana in their system is when they were doing much harder drugs (i.e. cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, alcohol, etc).

  14. owen

OMG- are you really representing us??? I have a 20 year old son that is addicted to Hydrocodone- he gets it from the doctor at will and god knows where else- all drugs can and will be abused. I fear one day to get a call that he has overdosed and is dead. Have you ever heard of anyone overdosing and dying from smoking too much pot?

  15. WillyNilly

Henry Fincher needs to actually see and compare the abuse rates vs the death rates of prescription drugs vs marijuana. How is that not enough change his mind?

  16. mrs. sab

We need leaders that have enough balls to even say the word marijuana in public. It is a taboo word and they are afraid to support or hold their hand up with a ya vote because of the negativity that has been surrounding MJ for so long. It is a shame. Where are the our leaders with the balls to say” I think that we as representatives of the people of Tn. need to hear and listen to them.” SO dear REPS. listen up… Your time is short lived, do what the people are asking you to do or get booted out. We the people have spoken. You all had best be listening

And let’s not forget that 40% of pharmaceuticals are prescribed for “off-label” uses; that is, given to folks to treat something that the FDA has never studied or approved it for.

  18. Bet

Anxiety and insomnia are the worst examples….xanex, valium, slepping pills…pharmaceuticals are abused so much more often. Think about how many people have overdosed/died from marijuana vs. how many deaths we’ve seen from people abusing and/or selling their prescriptions. If I choose to use a plant from the earth instead of some processed and pressed, barely studied group of chemicals that would never occur together naturally in nature that is my right. I say barely studied because over half of the pharmaceuticals that hit the market are recalled within 10 years.

  19. Fidget Truittelli

This irritates the piss out of me… His comments make it seem like anxiety is no big deal…. I wonder if he ever has lived with a condition that makes you feel like you are dying every day. That is so f*kd up.

  20. thaistik

WTF…..why shouldn’t it be prescribed for anxiety and insomnia? It’s proven to work for both conditions.
