LAGOS (Reuters) – Nigeria’s anti-narcotics agency confiscated 6.5 tones of marijuana Tuesday from the home of a man who claimed to be 114 years old.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it had found 254 sacks of cannabis at the home of Sulaiman Adebayo in Ogun state, north of the commercial capital Lagos.
“The quantity of drugs suggests a large scale involvement … There is more to the case than Pa Sulaiman,” NDLEA chairman Ahmadu Giade said in a statement.
Adebayo, who said he had been a farmer all his life, told police he thought the sacks contained rice.
What are you gonna do with a 114-year-old marijuana smuggler, if, indeed, he’s not just a poor duped farmer? Throw him in jail? Fine him?
You know my rule: once you hit eighty, you ought to be allowed to have any drug you like. What, you’re worried about addiction and your health? We’re worried about them going on a crime spree? It would give people in their seventies something to aim for and make the bingo halls a lot more fun.
Imagine being eighty, and then hanging around for another 34 years. I think I would need about 13,000 pounds of pot to make it… that’s about a pound a day!
If I had a pound a day to consume, I would find extravagant ways of consuming it. For example, a nice hot sauna with a pound of fresh buds thrown on. Or lots of marijuana edibles. Or an automatic vaporizer hooked into the central heating system that releases timed blasts of THC vapor into the home’s airspace. Or ground up and blended into a semi-viscous goo that I rub all over my naked body.
