PATASKALA — A video showing a infant being forced to smoke marijuana by two Pataskala teenagers has been released by the Drug Enforcement Administration. The child, now age 2 but about 18 months old at the time, according to a federal complaint, can be seen squirming on a couch to avoid a marijuana pipe being held in front of her face.
Melvin L. Blevins, 18, and Angel Dailey, 16, have both been charged for the incident — Blevins in federal court and Dailey in the Juvenile Division of the Licking County Court of Common Pleas.
Dailey is the daughter of Don Dailey, 39, and the niece of Tim Dailey, 38, who were allegedly found to have more than a ton of marijuana and millions of dollars in their Harrison Township homes during the March raids.
The Dailey brothers and Blevins were charged with conspiracy to distribute more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana, according to a federal indictment released Thursday.
The tape was discovered after Blevins sold a camcorder containing the tape to a Columbus pawn shop on Feb. 18, the federal criminal complaint alleges.
I reported this awful case last week, but I had to follow-up on this since the DEA has now released the video. Remember that the only semi-successful plank in the prohibitionist’s argument is “What about the children?” This video will go a long way toward reinforcing some people’s negative attitudes about marijuana, so it is important that we address the issue and point out that we are as offended by the misuse and abuse of marijuana as they are. Videos like this are why we support responsible regulation of marijuana – we want to make it tougher for those teens to acquire marijuana in the first place.

Nobody should force anybody to get high but as far as animals go, my cats want to get high with me every-time I light up. The only trouble I have with that is they want to eat it, too. The first time I smoked was close to my birthday back in 1968 & that made me 8 year old. Oh & nobody had to force me.
Cynthia; dear lady they made a mistake…rot in jail? Connecting the forced smoking of teenagers misbehavior to younger family abuse. You must decouple this from ADULT business trade in cannabis, and has no relevance. In fact it’s the only thing offensive-kids being dumb to other smaller kids ?
This is horable i have a 16 month old daughter and i feel just so sad for this poor little girl i hope the two of them rot in jail for what they have done… And if that was the parents then they should really rot… and if they wernt the parents well i hope u think about who u leave ur kids with next time…
when I was 3 i was tricked into drinking brandy from a miniature wooden barrel by my Uncles will deja vu’. Unfortunately prohibitionist will jump on this type of incident then do a national press release to dramatize an isolated incident for the purpose of swaying public opinion against cannabis use. I don’t think the smoke hurt or endangered the toddler. Blowing unwanted smoke into a toddler’s face or any other person or animal is just stupid thinking.
i like this article, we need to make it clear to naysayers that marijuana is not for “the children” its for the responsible victims of debilitating conditions who can benefit from its medical affects which have had many years of study and research. (not to mention the millions of individuals who for generations have used marijuana for recreational use with no proven ill effects)
