Zach Galifianakis’ pro-pot legalization monologue cut from SNL web version

I missed last night’s Saturday Night Live but I caught the tweet from Steve Bloom at CelebStoner watching it live on the East Coast.

I comforted myself knowing that the West Coast replay wouldn’t be on for another three hours. It will be great to see Zach Galifianakis, fresh off his Real Time appearance where he smoked a joint on air (allegedly), making another pro-pot stand in the mainstream.  Unfortunately, I have two big deadlines staring me down so I worked right through the West Coast airing.  That’s OK, I thought, I can always watch it on the web.

So imagine my disappointment when I log on to NBC.com to watch the great Zach Galifianakis monologue, only to find it had been cut just prior to Zach’s stripping down to an “Annie” dress and lip-synching “The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow” while showing pro-legalization scrawls on a easel pad.

As of this posting, you can watch an unauthorized copy (one of those “guy films his TV playing the show” versions) at YouTube. Here are the relevant screen caps:

    To be fair, I got to thinking and realized that perhaps NBC cut the song from Galifianakis’ appearance because they don’t have the archive and rebroadcast rights for that song from “Annie”. Perhaps nothing sinister is going on here.
